Simbah lives with Alex Shackleton and we all train together at Geelong ODC in the Monday night Trial Training class. He has always been an absolutely character!
Simbah had a very limited stud career, but a mating to his kennel-mate Narla produced the lovely Sebastian (Monlaird Poseidon CCD HT) who in turn sired our Corey. Which of course means that Simbah is great granddaddy to Raffy and Giaan, making him a very special member of our Lindenbrae family.
Simbah started his performance career a little later than his litter sister, Freya, but like her and his big brother Django he has definitely made the transition to veteran trialler with aplomb! He loves to work - he trains with genuine keeness and, with Alex's persistence, has learnt to apply that in his ring work as well.
Alex started trialling him in both Rally-O and Tracking during 2013. He completed his Rally Novice at Geelong ODC's triple trial in August, scoring over 90 in each of his passes! And he also earned a pass in his Track One at Morwell earlier in the year. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
Simbah has continued his Rally-O career last year, gaining 87 in his first attempt at Rally Advanced at the 2014 Border Collie Nationals and completing his Rally Advanced title with two passes at the State Titles in August. And, not one to rest on his laurels, he gained his Tracking Dog title with his final pass at Inverleigh three weekends later! Champion effort old feller!
Now if someone could just teach him to leave other people's food and treats alone ... Simbah is definitely a bit too clever for his own good at times! We are very proud of Simbah and Alex and their wonderful achievements and we wish Alex all the best in addressing his penchant for pilfering.
